Obituary of Daily Anderson Smith

Daily Anderson Smith, 92, of Soddy-Daisy went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 9:15AM from his home. He was born August 15, 1919 and had eleven brothers and sisters. Daily married at the age of 19 and had two children while serving in WWII. He owned a small farm and went to work at Combustion when the war was over. He fathered four more children and built his new house in 1962. Daily spent his life working for the community and the church, visiting the elders and the widows for their affliction. He also was a member of Daisy Lodge #706 F&AM. Daily retired from Combustion in 1982, lost his beloved wife in 1990, and has been depending on the Lord for company, comfort and guidance awaiting this day to come. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arvazine Delphia (Wright) Smith on January 20, 1990 and his youngest daughter, Polly Jean Smith on January 11, 1966. He is survived by his children, Daily Junior Smith of Double Springs, AL; Velma and Ernie Cravens, Sharon Ray and Doug Roberts, all of Soddy-Daisy; Johnnie and Tommy Chapman of Armuchee, GA and Virginia Smith of Chattanooga; sisters, Lucille Young and Ella Mae Durantee and brothers, Chester Smith and Eschol Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 2PM on Tuesday in the Legacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wilburn Hardyman officiating. A Masonic service will be provided by Daisy Lodge #706 F&AM. Interment will be beside his wife and daughter in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
