Obituary of Johnny L. Shields

Johnny L. Shields, 76, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. A loyal husband, loving father and kind human being. He will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Brainerd Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents Minnie and John Shields, three sisters, Nola, Sue, Edith and his wife, Stella "Tootsie" Marie Shields (in 2003). He is survived by two daughters; Julia Ann Shields and Nancy Darlene Jinks. One brother, Jackie L. Shields; one sister, Betty P. Blassingame as well as many nieces and nephews. Johnny was born in Chattanooga. During the Korean War he honorably served his country as a Cryptological Technician in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as a draftsman and retired from Combustion Engineering. Minister John Cupp, his close and long time friend, conducted a private family service on January 8, in the Legacy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Chattanooga National Cemetery where he is buried with his wife. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martin-Boyd Christian Home Endowment Fund.
