Time-out with Dwayne I want to share a little bit about the Dwayne I knew. When we met several years ago, my first impression was that he owned a Harley and had several tattoos to go with it. I admit I was a little intimidated by him, but noticed very quickly that he had a great sense of humor. After being around him for awhile, I would recognize that twinkle in his eyes when he found a situation funny, and could hardly wait to get his take on it! He sure did know how to make us laugh!! I remember when we were on a business trip with several of our co-workers and we set the airport security alarms off. After removing our shoes, and making us go through the metal detectors several times, they made us sit in the corner and wait for them. It felt a little like time-out. Well, he mentioned that they probably thought we were terrorists, (it was after 9/11), and I informed him he looked more suspicious than I did. At that point, one of our group walked over and told us to stop talking because we looked like we were conspiring. Dwayne and I started laughing and couldn't stop, even though we were getting some really mean looks from security. They finally came over, gave us our shoes and let us board our plane. Dwayne became a precious friend that I will always treasure having known. One day I realized that Dwayne was not intimidating at all, but just a big, sweet teddy bear. When I told him that, he grinned and said, "Don't tell anybody."

Dwayne was a dear friend and I will miss him. We spent many hours together and I enjoyed his wit and candor. I also enjoyed the many places we traveled together and the dreams that we shared. His family is in my prayers.

Dwayne and our family go back for several years. He will be missed. He was always someone that my family knew they could count on if they needed anything. Whitney, he was so proud of you and Mrs. Hatfield, he spoken often of you as well. Nothing I can say will make the loss any better, just know that we are hurting with you.

Dwayne was a part of our family for many years and we all loved him very much. During his time with our family he adopted our cat Sheba who also loved him and enjoyed sitting in his lap & watching tv- she also had the favorite past time of helping Dwayne sort his faxes by ripping them apart with they came thru. We have many memories of time spent with Dwayne, my daughter Kala loved to spend time with him and referred to his as her other "grandfather". He came to my rescue numerous times and helped move me more times than I know he cared to count. He was also a close friend and companion to my mom and for that I thank him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time. We love you Dwayne and will miss you.

I didn't know Dwayne (or DJ as I knew him as) personally, but I always looked forward to hearing him on WGOW's Sport Talk every Wednesday for the Racing Hour during race season. I loved hearing what he had to say every week. I just found out about his passing yesterday while listening to the Racing Hour and they dedicated the entire season to him. I was so saddened. I am praying for your entire family.

DJ was an amazing friend and I will miss him beyond words!! He was so easy to talk to, so intent on helping you with whatever you may have needed, a wonderful man. I met DJ in June 2004 and from that day on we continued our friendship. With distance between us in miles he was always close in heart!! Whitney he was very proud of you, I could hear the passion in his voice every time we talked about you starting with school, car hunting & your wedding plans, he wanted nothing but happiness for you ~ he told me that Clint was a good man to take care of his "PRINCESS". I'm very sorry for your loss and you will continue in my thoughts & prayers!! DJ you will always be the friend that changed my life the one person that made me think out of the box..I love you Dear Friend & You will be missed!!!
