Obituary of Dorris Cleveland Tongate

Dorris 'D.C.' Tongate, 62, of Soddy-Daisy passed gently into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Hopkinsville, KY where he was a graduate of Hopkinsville High School, Class of 1965. Mr. Tongate received his BS and Master degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University and an EdS degree from University of Georgia. He was employed as a Power Utilization Engineer by TVA's Customer Service department and retired in 2001. Mr. Tongate was of the Church of Christ faith. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Christine Martin and Paul Goodwin. He is survived by his wife, Carlene; children, Ashlea (fiancé Justin Rumer) of Soddy-Daisy and David (Bethany) of Hoover, AL; brother, Darrel (Judy) Tongate of Hendersonville, TN; maternal aunt, Lillian Speer of Clarksville, TN and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2010 in the Legacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Lasley officiating. There will be no visitation.
