Obituary of Robert Leon Thompson

Lynn Thompson, 82, of Soddy-Daisy passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012. He was a graduate of Spring City High School, Tennessee Technology University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a teacher and coach for twenty five years in the Rhea County and Hamilton County School Systems. Mr. Thompson was a member of Daisy United Methodist Church and after retiring from teaching he served as a minister in the Cleveland, TN district of the United Methodist Church for nineteen years. He served as a former mayor of the City of Soddy-Daisy and was a member of American Legion Post 203. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Thompson and Gladys Landreth; brothers, Jim Thompson and Chuck Landreth; and sister, Betty Yarberry. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Thompson; sons, Cliff (Merlene) Price of Smyrna, TN, Tim (Pam) Price of Hixson; and Jeff Thompson of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren, Julie (Jason) King of Murfreesboro, James Price of Abbington, VA, Daniel (Bethany) Price of Hixson, Beth Price of Hixson; great-grandson, Matthew; sisters, Marcia Cookman of Phoenix, AZ and Sandy Rhoades of Denver, CO; nephews Jim Thompson and Mike Thompson, both of Hixson. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Daisy United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daisy United Methodist Church, 9508 Dayton Pike Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
