Obituary of Lucy Jean Grabert

Lucy DelPiano Grabert, 91, of Hixson passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015. Mrs. Grabert was born on December 16, 1923 in Bristol, RI to the late Michael and Placida (Malafronte) DelPiano. She graduated from Colt Memoial High School, class of 1941, of which she was the class secretary. Following graduation she worked as a bookkeeper for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and went on to work as a bookkeeper for the Town of Bristol Highway Department, Treasurer's Office, and retired as a bookkeeper for the Bristol School Department. She was married to Vincent Grabert, her husband of 68 years, on July 6, 1946. Survivors include her son, Mark Grabert, Stratham, NH; daughters, Diedre Deane, Springfield, VT and Susan Leonard Hall, Hixson; sister, Theresa Proto, Bristol, RI; grandchildren, Amy Beth Grabert Reichert, Winter Garden, FL, Jennifer Deane (Michael) Kittle, Frankfurt, Germany, George (Jessica) Deane, Waterbury, VT, Henry (Kathaleen) Deane, Allentown, PA, Christopher (Jessica) Leonard, Hixson, and Cori Leonard (George) Aslinger, Soddy Daisy; and nine great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 P. M., Friday, March 13, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy Daisy with Monsignor Al Humbrecht officiating. Inurnment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 P. M. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Legacy Funeral Home.
