Barefoot Barbara As I recollect, Barbara and I were around 10 or 11 years old when this lifestyle change occurred. We used to play in the vacant, wooded lot next door to their house. One summer day as Barbara and I were clearing a path to our hideaway, she stepped on a huge nail. I think it must have been about 4 inches long ! Well, I almost passed out from the sight but helped Barbara up to the house. I remember Betty asking, "Barbara Jean why didn't you have your shoes on ?!!!" then " Well, you'll have to have a tetanus shot". (gulp...time for me to exit) We always wore shoes after that.

So many happy memories of her!! I was truly blessed to have had her in my life. Once when we were watching "Dancing With the Stars", she was in bed, and I was in her power chair beside her, she TOTALLY disagreed with the scores, and slung her arm out in protest. Her arm hit the contoller on the power chair, and ran me into the wall. She laughed and said "Now you're gonna be in trouble with Belinda"!! She was THE sweetest soul ever!!!

I send heart felt condolences to the family of my dear Aunt Betty Griffith. I remember Aunt Betty since I could make memories. I can never remember an unkind word spoken from her in my presence. Aunt Betty was so kind to me and at one time in my life I worked at Dupont where she worked. I visited her area of work and she immediately stopped her task and wrapped her arms around me. She explained to everyone that I was her Nephew Chris and "wasn't I a handsome man?" That was typical of Aunt Betty always something encouraging to say about someone and I don't mind telling you I left her work area with a little swagger. I loved her so much and when I envision Aunt Betty I see a picture of my Mother Sarah because we spent so much time as a family. At one point I thought Aunt Bettys' children were my sisters! Oh, Aunt Betty the joy you brought into the lives of all of your nieces and nephews are treasured. The beauty and love you so unselfishly shared are truly shown by the actions of your children and grandchildren. I will miss your smile, your reasurance, your laughter but mostly just knowing you were there. God indeed blessed our family by placing you in our hearts and lives. I will always have you in my heart where you will remain until I meet you again. I love you so much and will miss you. Your loving Nephew Chris.

Losing you Betty is a huge hole in my life. How irreplaceable the love, the generous spirit, the kind tolerance or the wonderful presence you were to us and how you will be missed. I expect God will hug you twice as I wish I could. I will remember you as a wonderful brilliant light. I will always love you with all my heart. Your nephew David.
