Obituary of Alan Mitchell Voges

Mr. Alan Mitchell Voges Sr. died on the morning of September 17, 2015 on Lookout Mountain. Born on July 15, 1930 to late Albert and Blanche M. Voges, he was 85. Alan was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Gail Turner Voges and his sister, Janie Voges Jahn. A graduate of City High School and Samford Pharmacy School, he opened the Fairyland Pharmacy in 1958. He lived to serve the Lookout Mountain community and at the time of his death he was still going in to work every day. He is survived by his children Alan (Carlyn) Voges, Rhonda (Huxley) Brown, Mark (Mary) Voges, Greg (Joy) Voges and Eric (Lori) Voges; grandchildren Josh, David and Kaki Voges, Ashley Ruggles, Brion (Jo Beth), Stuart, Laura, Rachel and Beth Voges, Lynley and Tucker Voges, Sawyer, Callie and Turner Voges; and sisters Marilyn Brown and Jeanine Voges. An avid tennis player and a member of Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association. The family will receive friends at Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church on Sunday September 20, 2015 at 1:30 in the afternoon with a funeral mass to follow at 3 o’clock.
