Obituary of Patricia Peter Beatty

Patricia (“Patsy”) Virginia Peter Beatty (82) of Lookout Mountain, TN passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2016 after a long illness. Born in Orlando, Florida to the late Doris and Asher Peter, she attended both Duke and Florida State universities. In December 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, the late J. Guy Beatty, Jr. The couple resided in the Chattanooga area for over 50 years. During her lifetime, she was active with the Junior League of Chattanooga, The Church of the Good Shepherd, her children’s schools, various garden clubs, the Memorial Hospital candy stripers corps and was a Craven’s House tour guide. Patsy loved animals, flowers, music, being at the beach, and she cherished many long-term friendships throughout her life. She was a devoted wife to Guy and a loving mother to Yarnell (Liz) and Elizabeth Pearce (Paul). In addition to her sisters Annette Neal (Orlando), Mary Jane Means (Charleston, SC) and Doris Culp (Orlando), Patsy leaves behind five grandchildren Alex and Matthias Beatty (Brentwood, TN) and Gaines, Anne and Catherine Pearce (Richmond, VA) and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank her devoted caregivers of the last three years as well as Hospice of Chattanooga. There will be a visitation on March 12, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. preceding the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service and interment at the Harriett Caldwell Memorial Garden at The Church of the Good Shepherd.
