Obituary of Rita June Sims

Rita June Sims, 87, of Soddy-Daisy passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. She was a member of  New Salem Baptist Church, and enjoyed camping, Atlanta Braves baseball, and time with her grandchildren.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, James Odell Sims, parents, Harry and Gertrude Vandergriff, and granddaughter, Myrisa Miller.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Mike) Miller; son, Randy Sims; grandchildren, Mitch (Julie) Hickman, and Misty (Ryan) Coffee; great-grandchildren, Bryant, Blake, and Brayden Hickman, Gaige and Gunnar Coffee; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at New Salem Baptist Church on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Hon. Clarence Shattuck officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 and 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
