Martha Jan Powell, 81, passed away on September 15, 2021. She was born in Nashville,Tn. to the late John and Kate Mott. Jan enjoyed being a mother and neighbor to her Lookout Mountain community. For many years, she was a member of the Outlook Club that welcomes new residents to the mountain. She was a 1958 graduate of Girls Preparatory School and a member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Alexandra Hirsch. They were given the gift of living in the same community and were always seen together. She leaves behind her children Katie Mooney and Ed Powell (Bridget), two grandchildren Emma Mooney and Davis Mooney (Hannah), and two great grandchildren Winston Mooney and William Mooney A graveside service at Forest Hills Cemetery will be held on Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hearth Hospice 2636 Battlefield Pkwy Suite 101, Fort Oglethrope Ga. 30742 or Chattanooga Humane Educational Society 212 N Highland Park Ave, Chattanooga Tn. 37404 Arrangements are by Wann Funeral & Cremation Center at the foot of historic Lookout Mountain, St. Elmo.
