Obituary of Kay Upton

Kay Upton, 73, of Soddy-Daisy passed away at 6:37 AM on the morning of Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at her home. Kay was born on May 30, 1948 to the late Willard and Alma Dodd. She started working at Roper Corporation of Chattanooga, and then transferred to Lafayette where she retired after 13 years. Kay was a go getter, hard worker, and everyone loved her. In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by her niece, Michelle Bussell; and paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Addie Dodd and Edd and Lena Gooden. She was the loving wife of Don Upton; the loving mother to the late Derrick McCamish and Ryan (Crystal) Arrowsmith and granddaughter, Camilla Arrowsmith; step-sons, Mark Upton (Whitney), and granddaughter, Emma Upton, and Don Upton, Jr. (Heather); brothers and sisters, Jean (Mike) Brown, Shirley Gallion (Gary) Webb, Bobby (Sandy) Dodd, Paul (Denise) Dodd, Seretha Shreader, Harley (Lisa) Dodd; and five lifelong friends of over 50 years, Pat Parker, Sandy Watkins, Sandra Gann, Sheila Anderson, Mary Ester Shannon, and dear friend, Tiffany Gibson who cleaned Kay’s house for 9 years and was loved dearly by Kay. She came to call Tiffany her daughter. Kay had several nieces, nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews who she dearly loved. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, November 2nd in the funeral home chapel with Gary Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Monday and from Noon until the funeral time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
