Obituary of Robert "Bobby" Timothy Bates

Robert Timothy “Bobby” Bates, 70, of Chattanooga, TN went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 in a local hospital. He was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church, St. Elmo Campus and was retired from Averitt Express with 36 years of service as a truck driver. His passions in life were his Christian faith, four wheeling, muscle cars, camping and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Haskew and Ruby Lee Peoples Bates. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Bonnie Bates; son, David Bates; daughter, Tami Bates; brother, Ronnie (Tammy) Bates; special nephews, Dean and Gary Bates; great-nieces, Misty and Wendy Smith; great-great-nieces, Stella, Anberlin and Rylee and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Silverdale Baptist Church, St. Elmo Campus with the Rev. Travis Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Paynes Chapel Cemetery, Lookout Mountain, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 p.m.until 3 p.m. at the church.
