Hawaii was wonderful with you guys living just down the street. Hanging out with your amazing wife every day was the best. That was so nice of you, too, to chauffeur all her friends & I to a much-needed girl's night dinner in Haleiwa. And thank you for picking my husband up from the airport and orchestrating a surprise deployment homecoming for us. That was so special! Staying with you guys before we left the island was fun too, and we are so glad you liked the juicer so much.
And thank you for bringing your family to worship with us at Calvary Independent Church in Wahiawa. God was pursuing you, and it's awesome that you recently responded to His tremendous love for you! Rest in peace, Barry, knowing God is loving, protecting, upholding and blessing your beautiful family.

My condolences to the Garman family. May God give you the strength to face this new reality. I met SSG Garman at Ft. Gordon during our SLC courses in 2022. We played basketball almost everyday after school and had silly talks but also meaningful ones about our careers, family and just life. Such a great guy and an admiration of truly selfless service. Always willing to help anyone that needed it. I will never forget his legacy. He will truly be miss. My prayers always be with yall. If I can help the family in any way please reach out.

It’s not just one memory that comes to mind, it is so many all at the same time. Times when we were kids and he would taunt me, as brothers do and then the times he would protect me and keep me safe, or teach me how to fish (he would ALWAYS catch a bigger fish than me) and play sports and even just be there for me. We then had our adolescent phase and what a terror that boy could be! Lol! One time he had bought one of those wind up propeller airplanes. He wound that thing up so tight and stuck it right in the back of the hair, I was so mad I cried and he laughed of course. As we got older that all changed and he became the strong man I always knew he would be. I am so proud of the man he had become. Barry had such a beautiful light in him. Barry loved the Lord and not only believed in Jesus as his savior but wanted other to as well. Barry loved Big and was so kind, and an amazing sense of humor (I guess I’m impartial, others call it our dumb Garman sense of humor)(one night In particular me, Walter, Barry and Annette were playing a game. All I can remember is how annoyed Walter and Annette were with our laughter and stupid sense of humor). He was such a social butterfly too, He could talk to anyone about anything. Barry loved his family and wasn’t afraid to tell them and let them know when he was proud of them. I always heard how proud he was of his sons and when we would talk about his nieces with all the different things in life. I will forever miss my big Brother. I will miss our long conversations catching up on each other’s lives or “remember when” or just a call of us being goofy and telling jokes. I will miss your big ole Bear hugs. You were a great Father, Husband, Brother, Uncle, Son and friend. I know there will be a time we are together again. You will forever be in my heart, I love you Barry!
