Obituary of Mary Jo London

Mary Jo London, 87, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in a local hospice facility.
Born to John and Addie Hixson Dahl on July 15, 1936, she was a descendant of the Hixson and Vandergriff families who settled Hixson.
Mary Jo grew up in Hixson and graduated from Hixson High School. Later, she graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She went on to write feature articles for the local newspaper and to teach in the public schools. She was an avid reader who emphasized the importance of education.
Mary Jo also was a long-standing member of the Tri-State Rose Society. She won many awards for her rose arrangements and single rose exhibits.
In 1956, Mary Jo married her husband Ed, and together they raised two daughters. Their family was a constant participant and supporter of their church and various mission organizations. She was a member of Dallas Bay Church at the time of her passing.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was interested in and supported the activities of her family members.
Mary Jo was recently preceded in death by her husband. She and Ed were married 67 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Addie Dahl; her brothers, Junior Davis, Frank Dahl, and Bob Davis; her niece, Shirley Wyatt; and her nephew, Bobby Davis.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie Williams and Robin (Alan) Cofer; her grandchildren, Rachel Williams, Clay Cofer, Laura (Nate) Dunn, Meagan (Brandon) Hudson, David Cofer, and Tara Cofer. She was also blessed to have two great-granddaughters, Audrey and Anna Cofer. Mary Jo was blessed to have had special relationships with family members, Alan (Barbara) Chance and Doug London who helped care for Mary Jo during the last few years.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, at noon in the Chapel of Legacy Funeral Home with the Reverend Dwight Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 6, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon in the funeral home.
