Obituary of Mark Cookston
Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mark Cookston, of Soddy Daisy, TN passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the age of 61.
Mark was an entrepreneur and owned Cleantek Steam Cleaning for over 20 years, his wife and son in laws will continue that legacy. An avid outdoorsman, you could find him in a tree stand waiting for a trophy buck, fly fishing for elusive trout, or most times- hanging out on his back deck because he genuinely hated being indoors. He would have slept in a hammock if his wife would let him, fortunately for the neighbors she did not approve of this.
Mark led a good life and had a peaceful death. And for the record, he did not lose his battle with cancer! When he died, the cancer did too so we consider it a tie. He was well known for his gentleness and tact. Just kidding, he was very opinionated and had a knack for "telling it like it is". He leaves behind his devoted wife of 41 years, Tammy Brown Cookston. Along with his three daughters Ashley (Phillip) Brown, Jessica (Zachary) Flood, and Lauren Cookston. He raised his girls well, taught them how to fish, how to shoot, to love nature, and be grateful. He particularly loved his six grandchildren Caden Wingfield, Hunter Wingfield, Jacob Brown, Mia Brown, Atlas Flood, and Magnolia Flood. He spoiled them so much his daughters wondered if he had been replaced with a pod person. Additionally, he is survived by his mother-in-law Mildred Brown, who he loved like his own, his sister Karen Godsey, sister-in-law Cindy (Ken) Jayne, and a niece and three nephews he adored.
He is preceded in death by his parents Carl Gene and Dorothy Cookston, and father in-law, Clarence ‘Shot’ Brown.
Mark was a genuinely funny man who touched many lives. He was a people person, even when he argued otherwise. He loved Jesus and was ready to meet his maker. We aren't quite sure his maker was ready to meet him though, good luck Jesus! Mark was also a huge Tennessee Vols fan so we respectfully request TN football players for pallbearers, so he can be let down by the Vols one last time.
