Obituary of Barbara J. Hartman

Barbara J. Hartman, age 82, of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 12, 1942, to the late Leroy and Genevieve Westberg. Barbara was a proud graduate of Purdue University and cherished the fact that her granddaughter graduated from the same class 40 years later. She dedicated 38 years of her life as a nurse with Blue Cross Blue Shield, where her compassion and professionalism left a lasting impact. Barbara was a faithful member of Hixson United Methodist Church and deeply valued her participation in the Emmaus Walk, which was a source of spiritual growth and connection. An avid reader, Barbara found joy in the pages of countless books throughout her life. She is survived by the love of her life and devoted husband of 34 years, Wayne Hartman; her children: Stephen Campbell and his girlfriend, Christy; William Campbell and his wife, Pamela; Lynn Crittenton, and her husband, Martin. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Tracy Ferris and Jill Hartman; her daughter-in-law, Helen Campbell; several beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and a host of cherished friends. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Campbell. A service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 1st in the Friendship Hall at Hixson United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hixson United Methodist Church, the Humane Educational Society, or the charity of your choice.
