Nona Lee Minton Harp, a long-time resident of Chattanooga, died Saturday the 9th of July. She was born in 1936 in Chattanooga, TN. Nona was very active in the St Elmo community and a longtime communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Nona was a Master Gardener and was instrumental in the development and startup of the city wide Garden Tours developed by the Chattanooga Food Bank. She worked in the Portable Meals Program at Senior Neighbors of Chattanooga before retiring. Nona loved her family, good food and socializing, enjoyed going to movies with her grandchildren and friends, had a wonderful personality and never met a stranger. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Rose Oliver (Donnie), Jeffery Richard Harp (Mary), Joseph Ryan Harp, Jason Randall Harp (Rhonda), and Joshua Raymond Harp; and her brother, Richard Minton and sister, Sandra Minton Hammond. Nona had 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren whom brought great joy to her later years. She was preceded by her parents, Ellis and Mazzie Corine Windom-Minton, and her husband of 40 years, J. R. Harp. Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Reverend John Bonner, III officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parish hall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to, St. Catherine’s Shelter For Women & Children at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 305 West Seventh St. Chattanooga, TN 37402.
