I'm sorry for your loss there are no words that can ease your pain. I just hope that your family will find peace and comfort from this hope and promise from God's Word the Bible...That death would be done away with 1Corinthians 15:26 and the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. Revelation 21:4,5 and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more neither will morning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. And the One seated on the throne said: Look! I am making all things new. Also he says: Write, for these words are faithful and true.....This is God promise and guarantee!!

Although I never played football for Coach Bohner, I thoroughly enjoyed his eighth grade science class, and he was one of my favorite teachers at McCallie. His sense of humor was always front and center, along with his willingness to guide and mentor us students. And he was always true to his word, as evidenced by his keeping of a promise to one of our varsity football teams about the Baylor game: he said that he would shave his head if we beat Baylor, which we did! And in the middle of an assembly of the entire student body in the chapel, he indeed had his head shaved by some of those victorious varsity players. That was one of the funniest McCallie teacher memories I have :) Rick, Debbie and Alex, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during this tough time. Fortunately for me, I was able to chat with your Dad at church when I was in town a couple months ago, and it was such a pleasure for me to get caught up with him. I pray for the Lord's perfect peace and comfort over the coming months and years. God bless you, CAPT John Dietzen, USN (RET), McCallie class of 79

It is with great sadness I received notice of Coach B passing from my son Evan '13. I did not play for him at McCallie, but instead was in N Hutch my first year at McCallie. Let's just say we bumped heads a few times and I really didn't like him then. Now many years later, looking back with a wiser, older head, I realize he was just doing his job as dorm head. I had the opportunity to visit with him many times during Campbell's and my son's baseball games and enjoyed seeing Debbie again. Suffice it to say I was always glad to see him at the games and he made the effort to come speak to me first a lot of times. Tons of respect for a former adversary that I am honored to now call my friend. My thoughts and prayers with the family. Edward CF Loughlin '79

I was a member of Coach Bohner's Eighth Grade McCallie football team. Although some of my classmates would deny it, we were a mediocre team. In an early season practice on the field behind the old gym, Coach Bohner announced he had analyzed our personnel and developed a new offensive scheme for us that involved a variety of backfield formations, ends in motion and audible blocking schemes. After about an hour of false starts, missed blocks and stumbling execution, Coach Bohner lost it and launched a tirade regarding our incompetence (which was out of character for him but well deserved for us). At the climax of his anger, he hurled his clipboard with the 15 sheets or so of new plays on the ground shattering the clipboard and spilling the papers. After a few moments of silence, he bent over to pick up the papers and, as if on cue, a puff of wind blew the papers out of his reach. He took a step and bent over to pick up the papers and again, as if by magic, another puff of wind further scattered the papers. He took one more step and then, as if in an Old Testament story told by Yo, a steady northwest wind picked up all of the plays and lifted them in a fluttering orb, out of reach, above everyone's heads and slowly, gradually, above the trees until we could only see flashes of white against the green of Missionary Ridge. We all stood there dumbstruck until Coach Bohner, and then we, began to laugh uncontrollably at the strange but appropriate phenomenon. Coach Bohner cancelled the rest of practice and we all went home. We never did adopt the new offensive scheme. Condolences. Ansley Moses, Class of 1981.

This picture of Coach took me back to the late 70's when I had the joy and privilege of playing for him and having a whole lot of laughs together. I will always have a soft spot for "Flex" Bohner, and I pray the Lord will comfort his precious family in their loss. I'm sad to miss the memorial service at McCallie. Doug Brown, Class of 1979

Coach was a wonderful gentleman and a great mentor. He also understood boys well and had a kind heart and a great sense of humor. Once in the fall of '74, during a football practice of arguably the most talented McCallie football team ever, our teammate Abby decided to "pants" Coach Bohner. Basically, he came up from behind and pulled Coach's coaching shorts down! Standing there in his jockstrap, Coach very calmly said, "start running." Abby may still be running laps for all I know.

I have many special memories of Richard from my childhood. He was a very dear friend to my mother (Diane Moore) and would visit us often when in town from Texas. I will always remember him as I saw him as a little girl - a happy and funny person and the tallest man alive! My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Richard and I have laughed, cried and shared memories of when y boys were at McCallie where he coached them, I love Dottie and. Their children and was always honored to have that family in our lives. The sweetest last conversation I had with Richard he shared that he had become a Christian and knows he is forgiven. Like all of us he wished he could go back and change some things. Bless his loved ones and may he. Be found showing people in heaven which way it is to the beach.
