Obituary of Roger Hornsby Garner

Roger Hornsby Garner, 83 of Hixson passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016. He was born in Sherwood, TN to the late Susie Garner Jackson and Orlin Garner. He was a member of The First Alliance Church of Chattanooga. Roger was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, and nature. He was a member of the Riverwalk Bird Club. He loved to walk and hike and he especially enjoyed spending time at Greenway Farms. Roger was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Joe Garner. Survivors include his son, Ted (Kim) Garner; grandson, Taylor Garner, all of Soddy Daisy; sister, Sally (Carlos) Peters, Chattanooga; brothers, Larry Garner, Chattanooga, Alan Garner, Atlanta, Lewis Garner, Barnhart, MO; uncle Ken Garner and aunt Connie Webster, Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 12 P. M., Wednesday in the chapel of Legacy Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Peters officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Soddy Daisy Health Care, Hearth Hospice, and Parkridge Hospital. The family will receive friends from 5 P. M. - 8 P.
