Bruce and I just learned today of Steve's passing. We are so sorry for your loss. Bruce and I both had the pleasure of being friends with Steve for many years, Bruce longer than I, having played on many dart and pool teams together. We had moved out of town but tried to keep in touch with those the friends we knew. Steve was such a sweet and kind person and a good friend to Bruce and I. I never heard him say a cross word to anyone. I know he will be missed by many.

I was so sorry to read that Steve had passed away. He was just a sweetheart and a great friend to me for several years. I moved away from Hixson a couple of years ago and had unfortunately lost touch with him, but I have some great memories of when we worked together at Neighbors, when we were on the same pool teams and the same dart teams. Of course I would fuss on him after he first became sickly when I thought he wasn't taking good care of himself and he would just smile and thank me for being concerned. I still have a Braves glass that he bought me at Mayo's after I had seen them and wanted one. I thought it was so sweet of him to just go ahead and get that for me. Also, I think that he and I were probably the happiest in the crowd when he got to pull out the champagne at Neighbors the night the Braves won the World Series. I will certainly miss seeing his sweet smile and I'm glad to know he isn't suffering any more. Kathy London

Dear Pat & Williams Family, We were deeply saddened and shocked to hear about the death of Steve. I know how difficult this must be for everyone. Steve has played in the pool league for a very long time and such a supporter of the sport as a player and bar owner. I know how much you will miss him. This is when the strength of family and friends pulling together and keeping his memories alive will help you get through some of these hard days ahead. I was so shocked to hear about Steve. We were buddies back in high school, but I hadn't seen him for several years. Over the years, every time we would run into each other, he always had that great big grin and a big old bear hug for me. I will always remember the day he took some of us over to his Grandma and Grandpa Pickett's house in Daus to go fishing on the Sequatchie River. That was the day that Steve and I discovered we were cousins! Steve was a real sweetheart and will always have a special place in my heart. My deepest sympathy goes to his family. Dear Williams'family, I am so saddened by your loss. My sister, Mary, was married to Rick Yother and I remember Steve was always around. I remember going up to his house and his Mom showing me and Mary the quilt she was working on. I haven't seen him in a few years but thought of him often. Dear Williams family: Debbie, Mike, Momma Williams and Shrimp, I am so sorry for your loss. Steve was a great person and has been taken way too early. I saw Steve not long ago at Chester Frost Park fishing tournament weigh in and boy he was looking better than I had seen him in awhile. I am saddened that he has been taken so soon. My heart and prayers go out to you Debbie and your family. Steve was so good to me when i needed a place to live he gave Michael and me one and ur family treated us with so much findness and i thank you all very much. I know Steve is going to be sadly missed by so many people.

I also had a long lasting friendship with Steve, over 25 years. We reconnected over the last few years. I have a 5yr old son that will greatly miss Steve weedeating the yard so patiently while he followed. He was a dear dear friend and we had many happy memories.
