Obituary of Betty Hamilton Cummings

Betty Hamilton Cummings, 93, of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. She was the wife of the late John Walter Cummings III and the daughter of the late Emily Carter Hamilton and Henry Clay Hamilton of Dalton, Georgia. Betty was the sister of the late Lilian Hamilton Hull of Augusta, GA and the late Clay Hamilton of Dalton, GA. She was a graduate of Dalton High School, attended Shorter College in Rome, Georgia, The High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia and The Atlanta School of Interior Decorating. Betty was a member of the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church and her beloved Brock Sunday School Class. She served on the board of the Little Miss Mag Day Nursery, was a member of the Free Press Staff for seven years, a grey lady at Memorial Hospital for many years, a member of the Chattanooga Junior League, the Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club, and the Fairyland Garden Club. Betty is survived by her son, John Walter Cummings IV, of Chattanooga, TN, her niece, Betty Hull Stacy and Phillip Stacy of Augusta, GA; her nephew, Stewart Hull and Peggy Hull of Hilton Head, S.C.; her nephew, Clay Hull and Mary Hull of Warrington, PA; great nephews, Patrick, William and Tyler Hull and Carter and Whitman Stacy; nieces, Mary Levi and Sandra Miller of Lookout Mountain, TN. Betty will always be remembered for her very special love for animals and her last companion, her precious sister, Kittie. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joe Novenson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
